 One of the things I do: scientific editing and reviewing
Almost ready to submit your manuscript to your favorite scientific journal? You will want
your colleague in the next room to take a look at it first and oh, maybe that guy in physics too.
Have a student who is writing his or her first manuscript? You can save yourself a lot of time
(and money) if you send me the manuscript to streamline it - so you don't have to!
We all need other people who can read our scientific manuscripts and help streamline them.
Our minds fill in the gaps in the text when we read our own manuscripts.
We wrote them, after all. We know what we were trying to say. That is one of
the reasons why you always let others read your manuscripts before you submit them to one of the journals.
But
what do you do when two of those colleagues are away at a conference and another one is ill?
Send it to SmarterScience!
By letting me and my colleagues work on your manuscript, you will save yourself some time and
increase the paper's chance of being accepted rapidly. Some journals openly state that scientific editing speeds
up the acceptance process.
SmarterScience edits scientific manuscripts for parties all over the world, for example
Arkansas State University and
the
University of Utrecht.
Scientific editing
means that SmarterScience reviews and edits your manuscript
for you and comments on it. Where necessary, SmarterScience will rewrite parts.
Sometimes, the entire manuscipt gets rewritten.
We
will also check the references, if possible, and give
you our scientific input. (Yes, we have on occasion caught conclusions that did not add up.)
If the manuscript will be submitted to a scientific journal, we will also check the instructions to authors.
My scientific editing services are not limited to research papers. Book chapters, manuals, theses,
research proposals and conference proceedings are welcome too! And yes, I can handle Latex.
It goes without saying that I handle manuscripts with the utmost confidentiality. I can handle manuscripts in
Latex and large files with lots of high-res graphics are welcome as well.
Drop me a note if your manuscript is
larger than say 20 MB and I will get back to you with my solution.
Without realizing it, you may already have seen the results of the work of me and my associates.
Below is a list of examples of scientific manuscripts we have worked on.
Scientific journal articles for:
Grant and research proposals, book chapters and so on:
- several chapters of book on climate research;
- Ph.D. thesis in agronomy;
- medical physics, climate research and civil engineering proposals for clients in The Netherlands;
- grant proposals (geochemistry, biology) for clients in the United States;
- numerous chapters of various Ph.D. theses in civil engineering and climate research.
Having a problem getting your department to pay for it? Check with your tax authorities.
In The Netherlands, the costs for such scientific services are tax-deductible
for Ph.D. students. They may also be deductible in many other circumstances.
SmarterScience also offers other scientific services.
