The owner of SmarterScience - Angelina Souren -
was an associate editor of the Geochemical Society’s newsletter for
eleven years and editor-in-chief of the Environmental Chemistry Section of
the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society for three years. She has also published in other media.
SmarterScience’s expertise focuses on marine, earth and environmental science, but also covers
some areas in life science (the chemical aspects, predominantly).
Its owner Angelina Souren is a geologist and marine biogeochemist with more than twenty-five years of
experience in these areas. She has lived and worked in several countries in Europe, and in the US.
She is a former board member of the Environmental Chemistry Section of the Royal Netherlands
Chemical Society, which joined hands with NVT’s Environmental Toxicology Section and
later assimilated KNGMG’s Geochemistry Section.
She is also one of the members of the Portsmouth Environmental
Forum. Since 1991, it received logistic support from the city council, but the 2010 budget cuts
have changed that. It is an independent body that makes
sure decision-makers take green issues into account.
